New Weather Station Signals an End to Project on U.S. Hwy. 50
EL DORADO COUNTY – Caltrans announced today that a new Roadway Weather Information Station (RWIS) has been installed west of South Lake Tahoe, officially marking the completion of a project to improve U.S. Highway 50 over the Echo Summit. The new RWIS will be on line for the upcoming winter season. Weather data from this station assist in dispatching Caltrans resources more effectively while helping Caltrans inform motorists of fast-changing travel conditions.
