Prime recipients of Recovery awards are required to estimate the number of jobs funded by the Recovery Act. For the first reporting cycle in October 2009, recipients' job estimates were for a period longer than one quarter -- February through September 2009.
Prior to the January 2010 reporting cycle, the Office of Management and Budget simplified the calculation for determining jobs funded by Recovery for a quarter as follows:
If three employees work on a Recovery-funded project for a total of 1,300 hours in a given quarter, and the recipient defines a full-time job as 520 hours per quarter (40 hours per week, for 13 weeks), the recipient would report 2.5 jobs (1,300/520 = 2.5).
The job estimates for Quarter 1, 2010 (January - March 31) do not include estimates from Rhode Island which was granted an extension for reporting until July 2010 by the state's federal awarding agencies due to extensive flooding in the state.
