CASS, COUNTY OF
Cass County is working on a Lighting Retrofit project for our historical courthouse building which is on the National Historical Register. In moving ahead with the energy efficient lighting retrofit within the courthouse, it provided the opportunity to do additional projects that had previously been set to the side. This decision by the County Board will directly impact the number of jobs to be created or retained from the overall project. Working with Nebraska Public Power District, our local electric provider we have identified the current fixtures to determine a baseline of energy consumption by these fixtures. The estimated kilowatt-hr savings per year is 37,071. This is lighting only, which does not reflect the impact of the additional projects the county has chosen to move forward with. Once the new fixtures are in place we can more adequately tabulate the energy conserved by the upgrade and eventually view the hard numbers of kilowatts used during a similar period of time providing the measurable results of this project.
