NORTHWEST OPEN ACCESS NETWORK
NoaNet's $84.3 million grant with an additional $21.1 million matching funds will allow for expansion of an existing high-speed network, with an additional 830 miles of fiber and eight new microwave sites. The expanded network will connect 123 anchor institutions in 18 counties with the ability to provide speeds of at least 100 Mbps. The NoaNet project will enhance the education and healthcare access for residents across the State of Washington by connecting remote locations to the network.

High speed internet service network infrastructure development project within the State of Washington
with the goal of expanding the open access architecture available in the Northwest. The first quarter of 2013 activity continued to center on construction of fiber laterals, equipment installation of CPE's and the UPS and turn up of circuits to approved Community Anchor Institutions (CAI's) and closeout activity associated with the project. The close out activities included but not limited to final billing from vendors, reconciling of construction contracts, Federal Interest Filings and all required paperwork. The Closeout Team is working diligently to insure all necessary routes are closed out according to the BTOP guidelines and all necessary support material is in place. All documentation and closeout forms will be completed and furnished to NTIA during the closeout period. |

The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act appropriated $7.2 billion for the Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service (RUS) and the Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) to expand broadband access and adoption in communities across the U.S., which will increase jobs, spur investments in technology and infrastructure, and provide long-term economic benefits. Northwest Open Access Network plans to implement its project in collaboration with the ARRA objectives. |
