Airports have various lighting systems to promote safe operation of aircraft in and around the Airport. A Hazard Beacon is a flashing light that is placed on a pole in an area where the ground, trees, or obstructions like radio towers may pose a hazard to aircraft. An Airport Rotating Beacon is sort of a lighthouse at an Airport that helps pilots locate the Airport at night. The work under this project generally consists of the removal and replacement of three (3) hazard beacons with new poles on hills surrounding the Airport and the installation of a new Airport Rotating Beacon. Two (2) of the three (3) hazard beacons are currently inoperable. The work includes but is not limited to: removal of the existing beacons, removal of existing service poles (if required), removal of the existing overhead electrical service lines, clearing of the easement area(s); installation of new hazard beacon poles; installation of new hazard beacons; replacement of service poles (if required), new electrical service, new overhead secondary service lines (work by Templeton Municipal Light and Water), coordination of work by Templeton Municipal Light and Water; installation of a tip-down pole for the rotating beacon, concrete foundation for the tip-down pole, installation of a new rotating beacon, restoration; testing; and additional work as is required and described in the Contract Documents.
