This award has funded services to the Willamette National Forest, providing restoration and maintenance to improve public access and safety on the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trial, from the Student Conservation Association's Conservation Corps program. This SCA program recruits, trains and places qualified young people for environmental and conservation service projects. The Pacific Crest Trail provides extensive public access to prime wilderness and scenic areas in the Western United States, including deserts, glaciers, meadows and forests. Designated as a National Scenic Trail, the Pacific Crest runs from Mexico to Canada, through California, Oregon and Washington. The Student Conservation Association is a non-profit organization with a fifty-year record of recruiting, training and maintaining youth for conservation service labor projects.
