"95 genotyping assays (medium scale) will be provided to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Santa Cruz, California. These items will be used on NOAA's project in support of the operations of the Russian River California fish hatchery owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and operated by the California Department of Fish and Game. This project provides genetic data and analysis on fish raised and spawned at this facility and released into the Russian River basin. The assays are biochemical solutions that contain synthetic Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) with chemically attached tags (fluorophores) that attach to the DNA of a specific fish, hence providing its genotype (i.e., DNA fingerprint). The ultimate goal of the project is to complete a genotype map of parentage of hatchery raised chinook salmon in the California area."
