GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY (THE)
The applicants appreciate the substantial disparities in cancer risk, screening, treatments and outcomes for ethnic and racial minorities. A major barrier to understanding the biological reasons, and the exogenous risk factors for cancer and cancer outcomes in minorities, is the availability of well-annotated biospecimens for laboratory studies. Thus, we also appreciate the need to enhance our infrastructure and coordination in order to better address cancer health disparities. This Administrative supplement will allow us to plan for a future BMaP application, expected in 2011. It will also catalyze work and research funding independent of a formal BMaP application.
