EDLAB GROUP FOUNDATION
The Communities Connect Network Project will expand the capacity of Washington State public computing centers to improve broadband adoption rates, workforce preparation, digital literacy, access to education, justice resources, and training. The project links rural and urban resources together to serve unemployed, low-income, disabled, immigrants, and youth through over 35 libraries, non-profit organizations, public housing, community centers, and justice centers in Washington State. The project demonstrates that tribal and government agencies, libraries, educators, public housing, the courts, and non-profits in our state are committed to work together for real digital inclusion, broadband adoption, and to ensure quality public computer learning services for residents in need.

During Q1 2013, eight subrecipients continued Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) funded activities, including upgrading broadband networks, holding training courses for the public, hiring new staff, and extending hours of operation. The training courses range from general computer skills and the Microsoft Office Suite, to website development, resume writing, and searching for jobs. We are partnered with the University of Washington, who has developed a subrecipient reporting platform that captures detailed data surrounding subrecipient activity, and we publish this data on a quarterly basis. |
