ONWAV INC.
The Five County Broadband Interconnected Training Access project fits squarely within the statutory purposes and objectives of the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program. This project will extend a high speed internet access microwave backbone for broadband service to un- and under-served areas throughout northeast Tennessee. Additionally, the Five County Broadband Interconnected Training Access project deploys high speed internet access connectivity in the towns of Allardt, Byrdstown, Celina, Gainesboro, Jamestown and Livingston, all of which are currently under-served, to bring much needed affordable broadband access to training centers, schools, first responders, emergency care providers and many other anchor institutions. The
Five County Broadband Interconnected Training Access project will address this lack of high speed internet access capacity by installing a microwave communications system to serve as a broadband pipeline throughout this section of Tennessee. This grant will provide the needed funding to complete this microwave high speed internet access within the next two years, concurrently implementing high speed internet access connectivity using WiMax wireless coverage in six (6) towns.

- OnWav completed physical construction of all three new wireless towers.
- Workers assembled towers from steel, as well as constructed final gravel access roads.
- Civil crews constructed fences, H-Frames and trenched utility conduit
- Basestation transmitters were installed at the base of all three new towers. Antennas and lines were installed on towers.
- Network equipment was activated at all three new towers and initial CAIs were activated in new markets.
- OnWav began leasing process on the final site location.
- OnWav has now activated a total of 84 Community Anchor Institutions, these locations are now receiving complete internet access via the wireless network and fiber middle mile network. |
