"This administrative supplement is under parent grant 5R01DK064902-05, ""Epidemiology of Stress and GDM among Latina Women."" The overall goal of the administrative supplement is to achieve more quickly the goals of the project through the hiring of additional personnel, thereby accelerating the tempo of this funded project as well as promoting job creation. Specifically, funds will be used to hire 1.25FTE staff to increase both recruitment rates as well as follow-up rates. The specific aims of the supplement are: a. Increase staffing at the primary recruitment site, Baystate Medical Center, to enhance recruitment and further the study aims. b. Increase staffing a recently identified additional site, Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center, which serves an 80% Hispanic population, to enhance recruitment and further the study aims. These increases in staffing will result in an approximate doubling of the recruitment staff at the primary study site, as well as full time coverage of the highly Hispanic site. This one-year period of intensive resource investment provided by the administrative supplement will allow the parent project to achieve its study aims. The proposed activities are within the existing peer-reviewed and approved scope of the parent project. The major aims of the parent grant are to evaluate modifiable determinants of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) among Latina women using a prospective cohort design. The research design, methods, and data analysis will be unchanged from the parent grant. The supplement will stimulate the economy by enabling hiring of additional staff and increased hours of current part-time staff."
