Safe Neighborhoods Enhanced by Video Technology The purpose for seeking this grant is to allow two (2) law enforcement agencies to collaborate utilizing benefits of video technology in their effort to enhance safety and security in public areas. The Willmar Police Department and the Kandiyohi County Sheriff?s Department have agreed to collaborate using accumulated resources and the JAG funding award to acquire, set-up and maintain a video camera system designed to perform the following functions: 1. Increase public perception of security in public areas. 2. Monitor high risk public areas that are prone to drug dealing and gatherings of large combative groups. 3. Monitor public areas (or private areas upon request only) that are prone towards receiving gang tagging and graffiti. 4. Monitor road areas and/or intersections subject to increased traffic accidents or citizen complaints. 5. Used to mitigate criminal activity in parks and public facilities. 6. Enhance response time to any of the above mentioned situations by direct monitoring. 7. Enhance criminal prosecution in any of the above named situations by providing irrefutable documentation as relates to the criminal activity monitored.
