Project Title ENDOCRINE PANCREATIC CELL REGENERATION FROM BONE MARROW
Project Status Completed
Final Project Report Submitted Yes
Project Activities Description Colleges, Universities, and Professional Schools
Quarterly Activities/Project Description During this award, the PI recruited and employed three Biomedical Engineering JHU undergraduates to work in his lab on various aspects of his project studying Endocrine Pancreatic Regeneration. None of these students had worked in a lab previously under the supervision of an active research professor. The students learned molecular biology and immunohistological techniques, which advanced the project's studies. The students each provided a brief description of his/her experience that will be uploaded to NIH eCommons site. As a result of this summer experience, one student has changed her medical school applications to include MD/PhD and has joined the NIH to gain more experience in the interim. Another talented student pursued his project beyond the summer into the fall semester to the delight of the PI. Remaining funds were used to hire students through the months of May and June 2010. This project has ended and all funds were fully exhausted.
