UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH THE
The purpose of this grant is to enable community health centers and federally qualified health centers such as the Matilda Theiss Health Center (MTHC) to retain or increase staff in anticipation of an increase in demand for services during the economic downturn. Under its federal funding, the MTHC is able to provide primary care to uninsured individuals. Stimulus funding in particular is being used to retain physician coverage that was reduced by UPMC Presbyterian - Shadyside, the owner of this hospital-based clinic. MTHC is staffed by family physicians and support personnel and provides primary care for individuals of all ages.
