SUNSHINE COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER INCORPORATED
Three of our six strategic planning goals are in line with the CIP funds Technology, Facilities Expansion and Enhancing Health Care Access and Services. Sunshine Community Health Centers immediate needs under the CIP program and within our strategic plan include building repairs, equipment purchases, and construction; therefore, we propose to use the funds in the following areas. Under alterations/repairs/renovations, we will be utilizing funds to complete repairs on the main clinic facility; these repairs include fixing a boiler, repairing the outside of the building, and minor repairs to rooms and fixtures on the inside of the facility. Secondly, we will utilize CIP funds to purchase medical and HIT equipment, specially upgrading our phone system. Our current system is outdated and does not allow our scheduler to transfer calls internally to our satellite clinic, which slows the process of scheduling and limits the provider access to other providers. In order to be more efficient in scheduling, the new system will allow the scheduler to transfer calls within the system and likewise the new phone system will make it easier for patients to connect to the provider or access a particular department like dispensary. As part of our strategic plan, we are focusing on prevention and wellness. With the purchase of medical equipment such as a sigmoid, our providers will be able to increase medical services to seniors. Our third utilization of CIP funds is to complete stage two of our building project at our satellite site, which will allow for an increase in staff, patients and services. Our satellite clinic is a 1400 square foot modular doublewide building with only two useable exam rooms, a small lab that is also serves as office space for two nurses, and a front office area shared by the provider, biller, and front desk staff. This current space greatly hampers our ability to see more patients, increase services, and add providers, which are greatly needed in our service area.
