FEI TRANSMISSION ELECTRON MICROSCOPE WITH TOMOGRAPHY CAPABILITY The award is for an electron microscope, an instrument that can be used for new discoveries in biology or in the study of small structures. There is a dedicated group of scientists who will use this instrument at Emory. ONe of the main uses will be to enhance our knowledge of viruses, bacteria, and other microbes that can cause diseases in people.

WORK IS COMPLETE. This is a shared instrumentation grant. We have been planning the space and initiating moving of the existing instrument in preparation for the new instrument. The order for the JEOL 120 kv transmission EM microscope has been placed (note that the microscope is not identical to the FEI instrument, but has identical capabilities and fit the precise goals and purpose of the grant.
As of this date, the Microscope has been installed and is functioning and final checkout has been performed. The major users are now using the instrument. |
