The first part of the ARRA grant is the purchase of one (1) replacement bus. This CNG-powered bus will replace a 1990 diesel transit vehicle. The new vehicle will provide more reliable service to Commerce residents, reduce operating costs through improved reliability, and significantly reduce air pollution. The new CNG bus will meet 2010 EPA emission requirements, which will result in a 90% reduction in NOx and PM. This vehicle was ordered in August 2009 and scheduled for delivery the week of August 21st, 2010. The second part of the ARRA grant is for the purchase of transit monitoring software. This software will automate National Transit Database (NTD) reporting. The software will result in more precise data being submitted to the FTA in a more timely manner.
