Data on this map
The numbers on the map reflect cumulative totals from recipients' reports on completed and incomplete federal contracts, grants, and loans awarded from February 17, 2009 to June 30, 2010. The job numbers reported by recipients are for Quarter 2, 2010 only (April 1 - June 30,  2010).  All data is based on the primes recipients' places of performance.

The data on this map may be different from data on the home page map for several reasons:

  • On this map, all sub-recipients are connected to their prime recipients' places of performance for the Recovery projects. However, on the home page map, state totals include the prime recipient awards and their sub-recipients, less the amounts for that prime recipient’s sub-recipients outside the state. The totals also include sub-recipients of primes outside the state.
  • State Codes - On this map the data is geocoded to the address, state, or zip provided by the recipient. However, the home page map is based strictly on the state code provided by the recipient. If a recipient in Maryland mistakenly entered MA as the location for the Recovery project, funds to that project are allocated to the state of Massachusetts, not Maryland.

How the Dots Are Placed

  • If a recipient reported an exact address for the location of the Recovery project, the dot is placed at that address.
  • If a recipient reported only a zip code, the dot is placed in the center of the zip code area.
  • If a recipient reported only a state, the dot is placed at the state capital.

Multiple Dots

  • There may be more than one recipient performingn work at a location. To see all recipients, click on a dot, then on View all Recipients in the black pop-up box.
  • In some cases, multiple awards are geocoded to the exact same address (multiple companies in one building) or location (dots may be placed in the center of the zip code if only the zip code was provided).  When this occurs, the dots are stacked on top of each other in the following order:  loans at the bottom, grants in the middle, contracts  on top. Thus, when you click on a green (contract) dot, a grant or loan may also show up in the pop-up box.
