MERIT NETWORK, INC.
The Rural, Education, Anchor, Community, Health Care: Michigan Middle Mile Collaborative is a partnership led by Merit, Michigan's research and education network. Merit, in conjunction with 4 commercial providers, will build a 955 mile extension of Merit's advanced fiber optic network to serve anchor institutions, households and businesses. This project is coordinated with several other American Recovery and Reinvestment Act-funded projects to target underserved areas throughout Michigan.

As of the end of Quarter 1 2013, all infrastructure construction has been completed. All 55 CAI sites have been completed and are connected to backbone infrastructure. Final testing is taking place across the network to ensure optimal performance and warranty work is being completed on the infrastructure as needed. |

The REACH-3MC project will provide improved access to broadband service to consumers residing in "underserved" areas of the United States. The project will also provide broadband education, awareness, training, access, equipment, and support to schools, libraries, medical and healthcare providers, community colleges and other institutions of higher education, and other community support organizations by or through these organizations. It will improve access to, and use of, broadband service by public safety agencies. It will also stimulate the demand for broadband, economic growth, and job creation. |
