INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF
The One Maryland Broadband Consortium will build the One Maryland Broadband Network (OMBN) bringing 1,294 miles of new high speed internet fiber optics access to every Maryland county. This comprehensive community infrastructure will directly connect and serve 1,006 community anchors and other points of interest including 458 schools (K-12), 262 public safety facilities, 189 government facilities, 44 libraries, 21 community colleges and other anchor and community support organizations.
Through partnerships, OBMN will also offer cost effective, high bandwidth high speed internet access capacity to enable private carriers to bridge the last mile through their own investments to Marylands many underserved residents and vulnerable communities.
The OMBN is comprised of a consortium of public and private partnerships that include the following key partners: the State of Marylands Department of Information Technology Network, who operates network Maryland, the States data network; the Inter-County Broadband Network (ICBN) which is an established consortium of 10 Maryland local government jurisdictions; the Maryland Broadband Cooperative (a rural nonprofit telecommunications company); and the University of Maryland System.

| Quarterly Activities/Project Description |
The project is in full construction mode in every county in the state of Maryland.
Of the planned 1359 route miles, 100% of the miles have been awarded, engineered, and submitted to permitting agencies. Permits have been received for over 1283 route miles or 94% of the route total.
Aerial attachment agreements have been executed with the 9 utility pole owners throughout the state. Make ready work has been completed on 311 miles of the 318 mile planned aerial route. Of that total, 253 miles have been completed and installed with fiber.
Of the total 1040 planned underground miles, 933 miles of conduit have been installed or 90% of the total underground mileage. Of that total, 895 miles of fiber have been installed, representing 86% of our total underground mileage.
Of the 23 counties, construction has been completed in 6 counties: Caroline Co, Calvert Co, Charles Co., Queen Anne’s Co, Somerset Co, and Talbot Co.
Construction is in full swing in the remaining 17 counties and 1 City: Anne Arundel Co, Allegany Co, Baltimore Co, Baltimore City, Carroll Co, Cecil Co, Fredrick Co, Dorchester Co, Garrett Co, Harford Co, Howard Co, Kent Co, Montgomery Co, Prince George's Co, Saint Mary’s Co, Washington Co, Wicomico Co, and Worcester Co.
Overall, 1148 miles of fiber have been deployed out of the planned 1359 route miles, or 84% of the total. Additionally 692 Community Anchor Institutions (CAIs) sites or 69% have been connected out of 1006 CAIs (cumulative).
