MIKROTEC CATV, LLC
To provide broadband Internet service to the small rural communities of Eolia, Oven Fork, and Partridge in the Persistent Poverty County of Letcher County, Kentucky. The system design utilizes wireline technology , utilizing both fiber optic cable and coaxial cable. The Hybrid System includes Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFAC), at least 750MHZ Node + 6 Actives. Modems for data and voice are standards based, using Powerview by Scientific Atlanta for video encryption. The estimated number of households to be passed is 800 households. The project will serve five critical community facilities.

The construction is proceeding nicely in the Eolia, Oven Fork and Partridge areas with most of the work complete. The Coax cable has been installed and is currently being spliced. There is a section of fiber, about 20,000 feet, that has been delayed, but expected to be placed in the fourth quarter. Once that fiber is installed, the project will be complete. |

Jobs created/maintained correspond to those of aerial outside plant construction contractors and subcontractors placing coax and fiber optic cables. These personnel are familiar with various communications/outside plant concepts, such as the installation of coax cable and fiber optic cable. During the installation process they may coordinate with local governments, utilities and developers, regarding permits, rights-of-way, and joint usage of supporting structures and correct prints and maintain as-built records in accordance with company practices and policies and must observe all safety rules and regulations at all times. |
