PHILIPS ELECTRONICS NORTH AMERICA CORPORATION
Title: "Energy-Efficient and Comfortable Buildings through Multivariate Integrated Control (ECoMIC)". The objective of this project is to develop solutions that reduce energy consumption in new and existing commercial buildings while improving occupant comfort. This will be accomplished by exploiting the interdependencies among the multiple variables involved. The result will be a prototype building control system that will optimally set lighting and other energy-consuming devices to levels that balance energy consumption with occupant satisfaction.

Highlights, January 2013 - March 2013
1.We finished transferring the control algorithm from Matlab onto a microcontroller unit, and thus completed the testbed setup at the Rosemont site.
2.The Rosemont test site is in operation, and initial test for debugging, troubleshooting and performance improvement is under way.
3.Planning of the LBNL testbed has been completed and pilot test setup is close to completion.
4.A comprehensive model for detection and predicting daylight glare with respect to both blind height and tilt has been completed for further enhancing the capability of the control algorithm.
5.We concluded a set of energy simulations studying the additional benefits of the developed solution on top of the most advanced lighting and daylighting control techniques.
