Students Impacted
Goal: Grow our corps to 13,500 teachers (1st and 2nd year corps members) reaching 850,000 students in high-need schools
Q1 Results:
• ~750,000 students are being impacted by ~10,400 teachers (~5,800 1st year and~4,600 2nd year corps members)
Recruitment & Placement
Goal: Establish proven pipelines for recruiting, training, placing, and developing “highly effective” teachers in 52-54 regions across the country, spanning at least 35 states and Washington, D.C., and accounting for ~20% of new hires in high-need schools across these regions
Q1 Results:
• Our 3rd application selection process closed in Q1 at which point we've had confirmed over 4300 corps members for the 2013-14 school year. Our 4th and 5th (final) application windows closed in Q1 result, cummulatively, in a record 57,000 applications for our 2013 corps –an 18% increase over last year and our largest applicant pool to-date. These selection processes attached to these applciations will end in Q2 at which point we will have a good sense of incoming corps size for 2013-14 school year.
• We are currenlty exploring 8 prospective sites -- San Diego, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Orlando/Tampa, Idaho, Iowa, Chattanooga, and Virginia
Impact Goals
Training & Support
Goal: Train and support teachers so that a majority of them earn the rating of “highly effective” during their first or second year of teaching
Q4 Results:
We are continuing to gather data on teacher effectivenss for the 2012-13 school year. We anticipate being able to report out this data in Q3/Q4 (after school year ends and subsequent analysis)
For the 2011-12 school year -
• We are reporting that 36% of first year and 46% of second year teachers are “highly effective”
• We are reporting that 75% of first year and 85% of second year teachers are “effective” or “highly effective”
• These figures are determined based on teh 87% of corps members for whom we have good data (data that enables student achievement analysis) |
