PHOENIX, CITY OF
The award will be used to invest in public facilities and infrastructure improvement projects to help stimulate the economy, create jobs, increase energy efficiency, and expand educational and job training opportunities for low income residents.
Infrastructure projects include the installation of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters in the Palomino neighborhood, the Andalucia neighborhood, and the South Phoenix Village target area.
Public Facilities projects include the following: Installation of high speed, energy efficient doors at St. Mary's Food Bank; purchase and installation of an accessible playground at Gompers Habilitation Center designed for youth with disabilities; purchase and installation of a green house and security improvements at Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center's (SARRC) Vocational and Life Skills Academy and energy efficient lighting at the agency's main facility; installation of energy efficient HVAC units and shade structure installation at Community Food Connections, where the downtown farmer's market takes place; energy efficient HVAC units and fire alarm upgrade at Foundation for Blind Children; exterior security improvements at Sojourner Center's Hope Campus; energy efficient HVAC installation at Labor's Community Service Agency (LCSA); extensive rehab and improvements to the Ocotillo Library for the establishment of a Workforce Literacy Center in the South Mountain area; and the installation of photo voltaic panels at a public housing site for seniors, McCarty on Monroe.

All projects have been completed. Details below.
Ocotillo Branch Library - Workforce Literacy Center. The project completed in this quarter. The project involved creating a workforce literacy center at an older library in south Phoenix. Activities included construction of a small addition to the current structure, installation of sidewalks, driveway reconfiguration, landscaping, electrical upgrade, and shade/screen structures.
Projects completed in previous quarters include the following:
Labor's Community Service Center: The rooftop air conditioning units were replaced and an energy efficient rooftop was installed equipped with solar capability.
Sojourner Center's domestic violence shelter renovations included fencing, parking lot improvements, and interior rehab in order to make the shelter more secure.
Community Food Connections rehabilitation project included energy efficient improvements and shade structure installation for the purpose of the outdoor bi-weekly farmers market.
South Phoenix Sidewalk infrastructure project included installation of curb-attached sidewalks, curbs, gutters, ADA ramps, and streetlights.
Foundation for Blind Children interior and exterior rehabilitation included energy efficiency improvements and replacement of alarm system.
Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center Vocational Education included a greenhouse installation and security upgrades.
St. Mary's Food Bank Energy Efficient Door Replacement Project included the replacement of 14 warehouse doors with high-speed energy efficient doors.
McCarty on Monroe was a solar panel installation project at a senior housing complex in downtown Phoenix.
Gompers Habilitation Center project consisted of an ADA playground installation.
Palomino and Andalucia Sidewalk Infrastructure installation projects included installation of curb-attached sidewalks, curbs, gutters, ADA ramps, and streetlights. |
