Project Activities Description Vocational Rehabilitation
Quarterly Activities/Project Description ARRA funds have been used to operate statewide comprehensive, coordinated, effective, efficient and accountable programs of vocational rehabilitation (VR). The VR program is an integral part of a statewide workforce investment system designed to assess, plan, develop and provide vocational rehabilitation services to assist individuals with disabilities prepare and engage in employment, consistent with their strengths, abilities, interests, resources, priorities and informed choice. Wisconsin Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) utilized the ARRA funds to assist 716 job seekers with disabilites secure employment with the use of an on-the-job training initiative. The funds were provided to employers for training needed in the first 3 months of employment once an offer of employment was made to a job seeker with a disability. Since the on-the-job training initiative was so successful, Wisconsin DVR will continue to provide on-the-job training funds to allow more individuals to gain employment with this method. ARRA funds were also used to reduce the consumer wait list by expanding both staff and case services to underserved diabled populations statewide.
