| Quarterly Activities/Project Description |
The purpose of the Vocational Rehabilitation programs is to place people with disabilities into employment. The program serves people statewide through a network of trained rehabilitation staff. ARRA funds were used to: provide cell phones to field leadership so that staff could immediately contact supervisors to get needed answers to questions regarding client matters. Funds are being used to contract with Auburn University to develop a needs assessment instrument and a client satisfaction survey; for Structured Discovery training for staff serving the blind; training in Virginia for nine Alabama Randolph-Sheppard vendors on the basics of the Randolph-Sheppard program and the future of the program; software upgrades and computers to increase staff effectiveness; 12 Stimulus money projects totaling $2,000,000 to serve rurual consumers and hard to place consumers; On-the-job evaluation; paid work experience; paid internships, and on-th-job training for consumers; two adaptive driving training vehicles; rehabilitation technology equipment for agency technology specialists to better serve consumers. |
