MEMPHIS, CITY OF
The purpose of this award is to implement the City of Memphis Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy in order to reduce fossil fuel emissions; reduce total energy use of eligible entities; improve energy efficiency in the building sector and other appropriate sectors; along with creating jobs. The City will work with its municipal utility, Memphis Light, Gas, and Water (MLGW), to improve the energy efficiency of homes by conducting an intital energy audit, identifying and implementing energy improvements, conducting a post-work inspection to ensure performance, and monitoring of utility consumption to measure impact of the improvements.In addition, the MLGW will leverage funds from the Tennessee Valley Authority to provide energy efficiency and process improvement recommendations to non-residential entities. The City of Memphis, through its Division of Public Works, will install a cogeneration facility at one of its wastewater treatment plants to convert waste into energy.
