Quarterly Activities/Project Description The tasks associated with the Cancer Knowledge Cloud initiative continues to progress. Under this initiative, there are four major tasks: Cancer Knowledge Cloud (CKC), Cancer Clinical Information Suite (caCIS), TCGA Sequence Read Archive (SRA) and Data Coordinating Center (DCC). The preparation for closing CKC and caCIS projects is underway. As of the end of Feburary, 21 out of 47 projects were completed. For the period of last three months, eight technical project managers managed 26 projects under the CKC. The major projects included but not limited to system developments and implementations; user support and updates; contents creation and support; and quality assurance and documentation. The cancer Clinical Information Suite (caCIS) project released QA Milestone Release 5. All of the projects have met their milestones without major issues. The long term contract for the TCGA-Sequence Read Archive(SRA) has been put into place with UCSC through FY2014. Secondary backup established at ATRF and all the data shipped and inventory list verified. The second Beta releases for CGHub Browser will be released for the user community in March for testing. For the Data Coordinating Center there is the risk of not meeting Beta and Production milestones. Modified statement of work has been reviewed and completed with the program office. Subcontractor FTEs - 31.7 created, 87.49 retained

Description of Jobs Created Positions created for this project include Validation Engineers, IT Managers, IT Security Analyst, Program Analysts, a Clinical Project Manager, Secretaries, Program Manager, Systems Administrator and Technical Project Managers. The Validation Engineer will provide Quality Assurance (QA) support. Responsibilities include: ensuring each product release meets well defined high quality standards, developing comprehensive test plans, creating and maintaining robust test cases, test scripts, and test data through in-depth analysis of the requirements, deriving and developing automated test cases using various scripting languages, executing test cases, analyzing and documenting results, reporting and tracking bugs, verifying and validating fixes, and working with development team to resolve issues, engaging in the test environment, hardware/ software configuration, setup and maintenance, monitoring successful completion of the project , completing lessons learned, and identifying and suggesting new policies, procedures, processes that are essential and/or critical to ensure high quality product releases. The IT Manager and Security Analyst’s responsibilities include review of SOWs; serving as the Contracting Officers Technical representative (COTR) for contracts; serving as informatics experts as part of overall caBIG development and execution program management team; input and assessment for all caBIG tool choices; design of a comprehensive caBIG Enterprise architecture; support for integration of caBIG infrastructure at source sites. The Program Analyst will provide Software Engineering support. Responsibilities include developing, testing and integrating and implementing ISO 21090 data types for services and applications, applying the SDLC iterative methodology, implementing health care standards, including HL7 v2 and v3, BRIDG; and using SAIF/ECCF to develop semantic SOA-based services and products for interoperability and data sharing. The Clinical Project Manager is responsible for project and subcontract management activities, performs project and programmatic planning, research subcontracting, invoice and report review and analysis, correspondence control, communication, and liaison activities, and prepares progress and program reports, special reports, and prepares and coordinates planning and budget documents. The Secretaries assist in processing subcontracts of scientific/technical tasks with outside institutions; find, collect, organize required information by working closely with scientific staff. The Program Manager is responsible for managing administrative concerns of the Program by performing a variety of high level administrative functions that include planning and implementation of overall Program strategies, budgeting, auditing, purchasing, safety, space management and planning, facilities concerns and the overall coordination of Program level functions. The Systems Administrator will administer multiple programs within the ISP, including caHUB, TCGA and CBIIT that support tissue collection, genomic characterization ad software development for the National Cancer Institute. These tasks will be accomplished on various Linux servers and will require configuring applications and systems and will communicate/coordinate with the program director, project manager, and informatics lead for direction, requirements, and procedures. The TPM will oversee subcontractor use of and adherence to sound project management practices as applied to their individual projects. Also will develop and apply project management practices for the creation of the technical components of software development in Statements of Work to be included in Requests for Proposals (RFPs), evaluation of proposals received in response to RFPs by Source Evaluation Groups, the instantiation of subcontracts once awarded, and the tracking of subcontract performance over time.
