Project Activities Description Other Electric Power Generation
Quarterly Activities/Project Description During the third quarter, the activities consisted of completing the work related to Change Order #7 for barrack renovations at Camp Swift, Bastrop, TX. Substantial completion was accepted July 8,2011. The final inspection was July 14, 2011. State dignitaries toured the site with members of the military department in August. Final payments to both the construction contractor and supervision firm were processed August 16, 2011.

Description of Jobs Created Construction of the Barrack Renovation project has expanded the requirement for skilled laborers. The contruction categories are electrical contractors, plumbing contractors, site preparation contractors, finish carpentry contractors, water and sewer contractors. Work classifications within the project types remain consistent with the employment categories reported during the first quarter. Categories of employment opportunites created/retained remain the same as the initial submission. They are construction project managers, construction foremen, sheet metal workers, skilled construction laborers, equipment operators, civil engineers, cad drafters,and manufacturing (solar panels). In considering the employment impact from the use of Recovery Act funds, the direct effects are those coming from the hiring directly caused by the program. Workers hired by the state government is a relatively small number, but the greatest increase comes from workers hired by contractors awarded ARRA projects. Not all increase in employment is represented by new jobs created. Some comes from the increase in hours of work among employed workers.
