THE TULALIP TRIBES OF WASHINGTON
"The overall purpose of the Early Head Start grant awarded to the Tulalip Tribes under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act is to provide early childhood development services to low-income infants, toddlers, pregnant women and their families, to provide pregnant women assistance, and to provide parental support as outlined in the Head Start Act.
The Tulalip Tribes was awarded 74 slots March 2010 to provide these services.
Home-base services began in September 2010 with 2 families and the program has grown to Home-base and Center-based services servicing 39 families with a waitlist of 72.
The Tulalip Tribes Early Head Start program continues to hire qualified classroom staff and opens classrooms for services for the families on the waitlist."

| Quarterly Activities/Project Description |
Development of program policies and procedures, ongoing monitoring tool, and management systems. Center and Home based developmental services for 74 children. On-site child care services for EHS eligible children provided by the Tulalip Tribes to offer full day services for families that need more than the 6 hour EHS program developmental services. Monthly fatherhood community event held to incorporate the fathers, grandfathers, Uncles, and older male role models. Recruitment events continue to take place to encourage participation in the program. Staff trainings to offer the highest quality services to children and families. Developmental screenings of the children have taken place and continue to take place for children as they enter the program to ensure we are identifying and providing intervention services as early as possible if needed. Collaboration with the ECEAP program for the USDA food service grant continues for our EHS children. Participation continues with the development of the Tulalip Tribes Early Learning Program for children birth to age five.
In our first year of funding we received $1,624,198.00.
In our second year of funding we received $1,150,682.00.
This gave us a total of $2,774,880.00 for both years.
On 09/30/11 we were only granted to carryover from our first year of unspent fund in the amount of $1,007,447.00. This caused us to decrease our first year funding by $616,751.00.
Which only gave us a total to spend of $2,158,129.00 ($1,007,447.00 first year and $1,150,682.00 second year). |
