| Quarterly Activities/Project Description |
As we prepare to enter the fourth year of our Teacher Quality Partnership grant, the numbers in our secondary program, as noted in past annual reports, is regrettably lower than what we had originally proposed. Consequently, we are not meeting the most important goal in our project-- increasing the number of teachers we prepare for Chicago Public Schools. We have developed a plan to engage in several strategies that we believe will help us increase our applicant pool, so that we can get much closer to achieving the goal of 35 students a year in our secondary program. These strategies include: 1) build a stronger and more nimble evidence base about our program; 2) increase our visibility to potential students and teacher educators; and 3) further increase the relevancy of our training. Related to goal number two in particular, we've developed partnerships with three new organizations, and identified 25 Midwest universities to reach out to, and several new strategies to pursue within the university. Our staff has attended more conferences as a way to increase visibility in the field as well. This past quarter, we lost a staff member to another organization. We have not yet replaced this position but are in the process of locating his replacement. We are preparing to hire two new coaches in the spring. |
