CITIA-SC: Creating A Healthier South Carolina Through Health Information Technology The mission of the Center for Information Technology Implementation Assistance in South Carolina (CITIA-SC) is to, improve the health and quality of life of South Carolinians through the use of electronic health information as a critical tool for achieving enhanced clinical effectiveness, improved overall performance of the health care system and better overall value for all patient consumers. This regional extension program is designed to establish the selection adoption and meaningful utilization of electronic health records among rural primary care providers state-wide.

Quarterly Activities/Project Description CITIA has recruited significantly beyond its stated goal of 1000 providers. Currently, CITIA has also helped bring over 1000 of its customers to milestone 2, Go-Live status. Over 35% of our customers have also reached milestone 3. In addition to these achievements, the following activities were conducted in support of the CITIA-SC program: Activity 1: Education and Outreach. Educational webinars are currently provided live to customers. Training includes hour seminars on the following topics; ARRA/HITECH, EHR Prework, Assessment of Need, Implementation Plan Development, EHR Selection, EHR Implementation, Post Live Evaluation (including meaningful use gap analysis). These seminars are made available to all CITIA customers at any time via webinars through our customer portal. Our consultants have been extensively trained and have continued to work with SC DHHS/Medicaid as they develop the state level repository for stage 2 attestation. This partnership continues to define our consultants as content experts with regard to Medicaid attestation in South Carolina. Activity 2: Integration with National and Regional programs. CITIA continues to contribute to COPs including Rural Health, CRM REC Leadership and others. CITIA?s Director continues to work with the SC DHHS regarding Medicaid incentives and participates in the state ?All Grants? collaborative meetings. Monthly calls have been set up to assure that any challenges faced by providers during MU attestation and stage 2 MU attestation, are addressed quickly. CITIA continues to facilitate coordination of effort between SC HIE, Medicaid Ops Plan implementation, CHIPRA program and other state and regional initiatives related to the HITECH act. CITIA continues its participation in regional and national REC meetings.
