In LEDC's third year of operation as a SBA microloan intermediary and technical assistance provider, and with over ten years experience in microlending, we continue to strengthen our program and expand our geographic reach to the greater Washington Metropolitan area, including the following
DC: Mount Pleasant, Columbia Heights and the Georgia Avenue corridor
MD: Prince George?s and Montgomery Counties, including the Wheaton corridor and Langley Park
VA: Arlington, Fairfax counties
During the 2010 calendar year, LEDC anticipates providing loans to 80 people and provide technical assistance to an additional 320 people, for a total of 400 people served. We expect that this work will be provided over 1200 hours of assistance. LEDC has well-established microloan policies, procedures and processes; training and technical assistance (TTA or TA); and coursework and workshops that we will adapt if needed to comply with SBA requirements. We continue to refine and strengthen our infrastructure to ensure the best possible delivery of service. Our team is experienced in the delivery of microloan services, which we have provided for over ten years. LEDC has integrally linked the small business development services with our microlending program to ensure that small business receive the comprehensive assistance they need to make their business sustainable. LEDC provides a variety of workshops and technical assistance services for small business clients at both our sites in the District of Columbia and Montgomery County, MD. These services include credit counseling, financial management, marketing, licensing and permitting.
