Grants - AWARD SUMMARY

SCHEPENS EYE RESEARCH INSTITUTE, INC., THE

Studies described in this proposal seek to elucidate thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1) mediated immune regulation and associated mechanisms that may prevent ocular inflammaton. The first aim seeks to determine immunologic mechanisms underlying ocular inflammation in TSP-1null mice. The second aim seeks to investigate whether reconstitution of TSP-1 or peptides derived from this protein can resolve or prevent ocular inflammation. These studies will allow us to evaluate if any of the TSP-1 dependent mechanisms can form the basis for development of novel therapies to resolve chronic ocular inflammatory diseases.
