Contracts - AWARD SUMMARY
SEI GROUP, INC.
The specific goal of this Delivery Order (DO) is collect airborne and ground survey data which enables the Navy to locate and evaluate both shallow and intermediate/deep drilling target areas that could validate if geothermal resources exists on Navy administered lands at the Naval Air Station, (NAS) Fallon, Nevada.
This is the first Phase of a multiphase Geothermal Power Plant Construction Program. This Program will culminate with the discovery of suitable geothermal resources that allow the design and construction of cost-effective geothermal power plants. These power plants, driven by the renewable geothermal energy sources, will generate power to run nearby military bases. In addition, there will be sufficient excess power which will be sold to the commercial power grid to generate funding for other renewable energy or energy savings programs by the Department of Defense and the U.S. Navy.

| Quarterly Activities/Project Description |
This is the first quarter of operation under the Navy TechVal Program for DO-35. During this period, the following tasks were carried out:
1. The Statement of Work (SOW) and performance requirements for the four key subcontractors were developed and approved.
2. Subcontracts were issued for 3 of the 4 subcontractors. The remaining subcontract is in final negotiations.
3. The first draft Program Plan was developed and released for review.
4. The Hyperspectral Flight Plan was developed and approved.
5. The Hyperspectral data collection flights were conducted over Naval Air Station (NAS) Fallon, Nevada.
6. The Laser Direction and Ranging (LiDAR) Flight Plan for Sector 1 (Bombing Range -17 of NAS Fallon) was developed and approved.
7. Data reduction began on the Hyperspectral data collected. The goal of this Delivery Order (DO) is collect airborne and ground survey data which enables the Navy to locate and evaluate both shallow and intermediate/deep drilling target areas that could validate if geothermal resources exists on Navy administered lands at the Naval Air Station, (NAS) Fallon, Nevada.
SEI is the prime contractor for this task. In this role, we serve as the integrating contractor providing overall Program Management, ground and flight survey coordination, cost/schedule control and data management/delivery.
This task includes collecting airborne Hyperspectral Data (infrared spectrum) for mineral deposit detection and airborne LiDAR (laser elevation mapping) data for acquiring tectonic features (e.g. fault detection). This data is processed into a Geological Information System (GIS) and used to pinpoint areas of greatest interest. Low Sun Angle (optical spectrum) airborne flight data and ground surveys (soil samples and temperature probe data) are then collected in these areas of interest to verify prime locations for drilling.

| Description of Jobs Created |
The job descriptions created by this Project fall into four distinct categories:
1. Program Management/Project Engineer: This includes jobs from the overall cost schedule management of the Program to the technical direction of multiple subcontractors carrying out a variety of tasks. Over 2 man-years of effort will go into this area during the 12-14 period of this Project.
2. Geologists: This includes jobs from data reduction and interpretation of geological survey data (airborne mapping data and ground samples) to defining and conducting ground soil sampling and temperature probe measurements. Nearly 4 man-years of effort will go into this area during the 12-14 period of this Project.
3. Airborne Data Collectors: This includes jobs from aircraft pilots to test engineers and technicians. Airborne survey data is taken in the LiDAR (Laser/Light Detection and Ranging), Hyperspectral (Infrared) and Visual (Low Sun Angle Optical) spectrums. Over 2 man-years of effort will go into this area during the 12-14 period of this Project.
4. Field Technicians: Primarily geology graduate students from the University of Nevada, Reno, these jobs entail supporting the Geologists in the collecting and analysis of soil samples and temperature probe measurements. Nearly 2 man-years of effort will go into this area during the 12-14 period of this Project. |
