Narrative Q10 DOE Expansion Grant
A. COAD?s Ohio Weatherization Training Center has provided 499 individuals with weatherization-related and energy efficiency/home performance 65 courses in classes across our three Ohio campuses, as well as in several off-site locations. The number of student training days during the 10th Quarter (1st Quarter 2013) was 1,497, bringing total cumulative training days to 19,552. This total exceeds the target benchmark of 4,776 total student training days and remains aligned with the project timeline in meeting or exceeding project goals.
C. OWTC submitted application package for IREC accreditation
and has been assigned an assessor who is in process of reviewing the OWTC applications.
D. Each of the 3 campuses remains fully functional and continues to offer lab, classroom, extensive hands-on and field training, as well as in-field technical assistance. Distance Learning continues to be made available in partnership with AEA's Connected Classroom. The mobile heating unit and classroom is now available and offering courses statewide as well as for West Virginia's WAP.
E. One (1) trainer was re-hired who had previously been laid off in a previous quarter.
F. OWTC further expanded training and continuing education credits for the weatherization network through multiple industry associations including the Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board, NATE, and BPI.
G. OWTC continues to work with our regional HUD representative and other stakeholders in the Healthy Homes programming in an effort to continually skill up weatherization workforce in Ohio.
H. The OWTC completed 70 BPI Certification Pilot exams for our state Weatherization Assistance Program network, including 36 Quality Control Inspector exams which will be required by PY2014.
