UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS
We submitted this administrative supplement in response to the request for administrative supplements through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). With the funds we are:1. Accelerating science by adding comparative effectiveness implementation science to the QUIT-PRIMO practice intervention. We will better understand the comparative effectiveness of two implementation strategies for deploying the intervention within community-based practices 2. Accelerating science by incorporating a new web-delivered innovation - synchronous and asynchronous group chats with a Tobacco Treatment Specialist for patients in QUIT-PRIMO practices. Consistent with the vision of the ARRA, with this administrative funding, we will 1. Retaining two jobs at full time allowing research employment opportunities for a pre-doctoral student. 2. Increasing effort for underrepresented minority faculty to move to be key personnel and lead the efforts described in this administrative supplement. 3. In 40 implementation practices - providing funds to support an 'implementation champion' - a clinical nurse or other staff member who will work with us to engage the providers in the intervention. This provides an additional economic benefit to our collaborators as detailed below.
