COPPER VALLEY TELEPHONE COOPERATIVE INCORPORATED
Middle Mile project to extend terrestrial wireless broadband connectivity to McCarthy, Alaska. The project will allow Copper Valley Telecom to transition from a low bandwidth capacity satelitte link to a high capacity terrestrial microwave service in an area that has no terrestrial connection to outside networks. This project will allow broadband services to be brought to households, businesses and key community organizations that are currently unserved, creating the potential for increased business growth, public services, public safety and quality of life for the residents of McCarthy.

Constructed towers, antenna and communication shelters at five remote sites in South Central Alaska. Installed power generation systems and microwave electronics to deliver terrestrial microwave broadband in the serving areas from Chitina to McCarthy, Alaska. The system was fully operational in the fourth quarter of 2011. Copper Valley Wireless completed the project ahead of schedule and under budget. ARRA BIP Loan funds expended for this project totalled $2,362,081. This recipient will rescind $251,894 of Loan funds at completion of the project. |
