PATRICK ALBIN CARLSON JOINT VENTURE, LLC
The project includes design and construction of a trail bridge over the Placer River just northwest of the Spencer Glacier in Alaska. Estimated bridge length is between 250 and 300 feet. The PACJV shall design and build a single span bridge with abutments set back from the river banks. Review of actual bridge span and intermediate supports closer to the river banks will be considered during the design process. Also included in the scope is the design and construction of trail approaches to the bridge. The east approach will be from an existing trail, and a new one constructed on the west side of the river where there currently is no trail. The west bridge approach will be from a location set by the government, which will be at the point where the trail grade from the bridge meets existing ground.Final design of the bridge and the wooden structures occured during this reporting period. 100% Design has been approved. Construction began in mid August 2011 and was scheduled to be completed by mid November. However, due to weather conditions during the month of September and October the work was pushed to be completed in the spring/summer. Work subsequently started again in mid May of 2012. Pile driving was completed in late September and the East side of the bridge is complete and over the river. The temporary pile supports where completed in October and the bridge was completely assembled by Mid November. The balance of the trail work and the removal of the temporary piers had to be postponed to the spring of 2013 due to unseasonable cold weather (average daytime temp's of -10F) and rail access from ARRC being terminated for the winter on Nov. 30. No work was completed 1st Quarter 2013.

Design work commenced in December 2010, and 100% design is completed, project is approximately 80% complete based on earned value as of March 31, 2012. During August the west portion of the bridge was aligned over the permanent abutments. The temporary abutments where completed in September along with the last temporary pile. The East portion of the bridge was lifted into its final position in early October.
