Equipment to enhance training for health professionals. The proposed equipment will enhance the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene ability to integrate simulation learning methodologies throughout the curriculum. The equipment requested will build school capacity to educate increasing numbers of baccalaureate students. The equipment purchase will: 1) Provide simulated learning experience in caring for childbearing and childrearing family; 2) Provide safe medication administration learning; and 3) Build skill in using electronic health record and decision-support systems. The requested equipment includes newborn and child simulator manikins; simulator adult manikin; simulated medication dispensing system; and a simulated electronic health record system. This equipment will enhance the School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene?s ability to utilize simulation supported learning methodologies that integrate cultural competency, patient safety concepts, safe medication administration informatics technology, and foster utilization of point of care decision support tools throughout the curriculum. All equipment will be housed in the University of Hawaii School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene Learning Resource Center and used only for training activity.
