THOMAS J. MOYLE, JR., INCORPORATED
The purpose of this contract is to initially close nine old abandoned mine openings, remove old wooden posts and fences at eight locations and replace fences and posts at two locations thru the Ottawa National Forest. As more funding became available, twelve more sites were added. At nineteen sites, 2" X 2" tube steel inclosures were built ranging in sizes from 3'X8' to 20' X 20' welded 5 3/4" on center and fastened directly into the rock walls. For the other two sites, an excavator was used to infill the " holes in the ground" with the existing mine rock. All of the construction sites were located several miles back in the woods where travel was limited to walking or 4-wheelers. Therefore, the mobilization of labor and construction materials was extremely difficult to transport.
