Grants - AWARD SUMMARY

UNIVERSITY OF PUERTO RICO-MEDICAL SCIENCES CAMPUS

Our long-term objective is to conduct a large, island-wide, population-based, genetic-epidemiologic study of familial colorectal cancer in Puerto Rico. The overall goal of this porposal is to determine the feasibility for implementation of a population-basaed familial colorectal registry in Puerto Rico. We propose identification of probands and their selected family members using the Puerto Rico Cancer Registry from two different geographical regions in Puerto Rico. Additionally, it will allow us to obtain preliminary data which will provide information on environmental risk factors, familial and hereditary patterns and possible genetic changes.
