WESTAT, INC.
To assist the Indian Health System in addressing its quality improvement goals, Westat and its subcontractors are supporting the development of a data infrastructure that will accelerate comparative effectiveness research (CER) on the American Indian/Alaska Native population. This infrastructure will support IHS efforts to prioritize prevention, treatment, and chronic disease management interventions for this population through CER. Project tasks include development of a longitudinal data infrastructure to conduct CER, testing the new infrastructure on two CER projects, and replication of one of these projects with several non-IHS Tribal health care delivery sites.

?X Westat submitted an ARRA report for quarter 3 of 2012 (July ¡V Sept., 2012) (Subtask 1.9).
?X Westat completed and submitted draft and final Standard Operating Procedures for the project (Subtask 1.10).
Task 2 - Infrastructure Development
?X Although all formal Task 2 deliverables had been completed, Westat continued to work with IHS to be sure IHS staff understand the LDI.
?X Westat submitted an addendum to the LDI itself based on Task 4 work that consisted of an enhanced LDI load process and revised documentation.
Task 3 - CER Pilot Projects
?X The Task 3 team completed the data analysis (Subtask 3.3).
?X Draft and final versions of the Task 3 report was completed and submitted (subtasks 3.4 and 3.5).
?X Draft and final versions of two manuscripts for the two CER studies were completed and submitted (Subtasks 3.6 and 3.7).
Task 4 - Tribal Implementation
?X The Westat Task 4 team continued to support the tribal implementation of the LDI with USET Epidemiology Center. Westat held regular conference calls and addressed issues as they arose.
?X Westat completed and submitted the draft and final Task 4 report (Subtasks 4.4 and 4.5).
?X Westat submitted an addendum to the final Task 4 report that provided additional information from the final weeks of activity.
Task 7 ¡V Final Report
?X Westat completed and submitted a draft outline and the draft and final versions of the overall project report (Subtasks 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3).
