TRUSTEES OF TUFTS COLLEGE INC
Purpose of this application is to form a partnership between the NIH and Tufts Neuroscience Department which will allow the expansion of our program by hiring additional tenure-track assistant professors. With funds from this award and from Tufts University School of Medicine we plan to provide the setup packages for new faculty hires in the three specialties: synpase, studies of disorders of the nervous system and neuron-glial interactions with the context of the synapse.

An Assistant Professor joined the department May 3, 2010. He came to us from another lab at Stanford University and works on regulation of extracellular glutamate during Epilepsy. Another Assiatnt Professor joined the department on August 30, 2010. He comes to us from John Hopkins University and he studies the regulation of Glutamate transport with specific relevance to ALS, stroke and epilepsy. This grant is used to further expend their labs, buy supplies and retain staff. There was a reduction in effort for Postdoctoral Associate in April, May, and June 2012. The effort was related to the award but there weren't enough funds to cover the cost. Resulting in an unspent balance of $0.25. |
