Contracts - AWARD SUMMARY

REGENSTRIEF INSTITUTE

This contract to the Regenstrief Institute will expand the number of healthcare providers participating with Social Security Administration (SSA) in the Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN). Leveraging the Indiana Network for Patient Care (INPC), Regenstrief will process standardized electronic requests for medical records. The INPC will then automatically respond to SSA requests with structured medical information through a Continuity of Care Document (CCD). The objective of the project is to improve the speed and quality of the disability determination process through a more efficient and effective medical information gathering process.

Quarterly Activities/Project Description During the previous quarter, the Regenstrief Institute completed the project. Regenstrief successfully completed Phase II of the project in which refinements were made to the continuity of care documents used to deliver medical information to the SSA. Once the SSA accepted the final documents, Regenstrief worked with the SSA to implement the service into production. Regenstrief and the SSA are now routinely exchanging information. Requests from the SSA for disability claimants are now being processed by Regenstrief and authorized medical records are delivered to the SSA. This concludes the contract, but the exchange of data with the SSA will continue using the Nationwide Health Information Network. During this quarter the Regenstrief Institute received the final payment for this project.
