Head Start provided comprehensive preschool services to eighteen 3 / 4 year old children during the period of July 2011 through Sept 2011. The expansion classroom is a locally designed Combination Option that provides classroom instruction using the Creative Curriculum, two days pr week and a home visit every other week. . Classroom observations by the Education Specialist and the Mental Health Consultant are regularly scheduled. The Advocate work closely with the families to ensure that every month health, nutrition, family services and parent involvement activities are planned and followed up.
Early Head Start provided comprehensive infant and toddler care to 72 children ages 0 to 3 and 12 pregnant mothers during the period of July to Sept 2011. The Early Head Start program offers 2 options for parents: center-based for working families, teen parents or families with open cases with the Department for Children and Families. The center-based option provides care of 15 children including diapers and formula for infants. The remaining 57 children are in home-based. The home-based option provides a weekly 90 minute home visit by an Early Head Start Parent Child Advocate. During the month, the topics on education, health, nutrition, family services and parent involvement opportunities are discussed. Pregnant mothers are invited to the socializations to see children are varying developmental stages.
