Head Start Expansion. To provide Head Start comprehensive services including education, health, nutriton, mental health and social services for 15 children in West Springfield Ma.from low income families.Childen will attend preschool four hours a day five days a week . Full fay services will be offerded for parents that are working or going to school. It is expected that with these services children will develop the readiness skills need for entering kindergarten and not be at a disadvantage for future educational success comparable to their peers from higherincome families. In addition Head Start families will develop self sufficiency and coping skills that will help them and their children be succesful in the future. Also children will receive health screenings and dental care along with nutritional evaluation and given the assistance and resources necessary to achieve a healthy lifestyle which is an indicator success in school.

Project Activities Description Child Day Care Services
Quarterly Activities/Project Description Currently 15 children from low income families are receiving comprehensive Head Start services in a preschool setting four hours a day ,five days a week.The comprehensives services include health and nutritional screenings and followup services, dental screenings and treatment, mental health assessments and referrals, developmental screenings and referrals, as well a a high quality developmentally appropriate preschool experience. It is expected that these children will develop the readiness skillls neede to be successful in kindergarten. Health and social emotional wellness is also a strong indicator of future success in school.It is Head Start's mission to make sure that the children's mind body and soul are in a place that is equal to heir peers from higher income families. Head Start families receive assistance with educational goals housing, food, parenting, mental health issues. Parents are developing coping skill and becoming self suffient so that they can be be successful in future endevours and be a positive support for their child throughout there school years and later.
