Grants - AWARD SUMMARY

UNIVERSITY OF PUERTO RICO-MEDICAL SCIENCES CAMPUS

The principal goal of this application is to use the integrated units of the CPRC to provide science educators and their students the opportunity to engage in basic biomedical and behavioral research using the resources of the CPRC. This will provided them with the understanding of how primates serve as ideal models for translational studies for diseases which afflict humans and the basic tools for understanding human behavior. Through this supplement educators will learn the use of advanced technologies and ways to integrate their knowledge and applications into their teaching methods. This will not only improve the level of instruction and involvement of teachers but will also entice, excite and inspire students to learn more about science, technology, enter careers in these fields, and generally become better and more productive members of society. Our strategic goal will be to increase the presence of minorities in the field science. This project will also serve as the basis for the creation and implementation of the future CPRC summer research program.
