The Recovery Act Funds allowed Kawerak to provide youth salaries. Jobs created were as follows: • Youth Development Professional 1 – Boys and Girls Club - Facilitates youth development outcomes and strategies used in all interactions with youth. Assist members with homework. Recognize and react quickly to problems such as arguing, bullying, fighting, and/or horseplay and stop the undesirable activity quickly. Identify high needs youth (e.g., those at risk for abuse, neglect, gang involvement, substance abuse, depression, suicide), and report to supervisor for follow-up/profiling or mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse.
• Open Gym Monitor - Check in participants for Open Gym. Follows policy and procedure for Open Gym. Takes direction from Gym Coordinator. Supervises students during gym time. Makes sure the gym and other areas are clean before leaving.
• Ticket Agent - Check in baggage, ticketing in the computer, answering the phones, and giving out freight.
• Cargo Service Agent - Loading and unloading airplanes, separating & sorting mail, janitorial, and building maintenance.
• Building Maintenance Assistant - Work with the Maintenance Workers on various duties like vehicle maintenance, snow removal, water treatment, and boiler maintenance in school and housing units.
• Office Assistant - Typing, filing, light janitorial, using office equipment, answering phones, and running errands.
• Washeteria Monitor - Sell tokens, Espresso, housekeeping, cash register sales and assist in closing daily activities.
• Custodial Assistant - Help the custodian on a daily basis. The tasks would include cleaning the building on a regular schedule such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and window washing.
• Stocker/Custodian/Assistant Clerk - Moving boxes, stocking products, pricing groceries, general clean-up, answering telephone, operate cash register with supervision, other duties directed by supervisors.
• Media Community Aide/Tutor - Assist students in choosing library books. Read to children during library time. Check in participants for open gym. Follows policy and procedure for open gym. Takes direction from Gym Coordinator. Supervises students during gym time. Makes sure the gym and other areas are clean before leaving. Tutor students during After School Tutoring.
• Hall Monitor - Responsible for making sure children are not playing and running in the lobby/bathrooms/halls during open gym hours as established by the Principal. Children will be asked to leave the building if behavior continues. Some custodial duties may also be required.
• Computer Tech Assistant - Instruct community members and students on using computers, computer programs, etc.
- Office helper/Recycler – Assist in tickets, packing pop cans, typing, filing, using office equipment, answering telephones, running errands and other duties as assigned.
