The purpose of the project was to repair the roof at Building 90747 at Hurlburt Field. Services performed/supplies delivered include: the plant, labor, materials and equipment required to complete the full design, estimation, and construction of this project which includes but is not limited to: Demolition of approximately 75 squares of metal roofing system and insulation, as well as the sidewall fascia panel; demolition of out of service HVAC units and vent which includes removing electrical and gas service, wire and gas pipe were removed back to mechanical room, conduit main remained and circuit labeled as a spare; demolish existing gutters and downspouts and replace with new to match building in color by priming and applying 2 coats of paint; install new standing seam metal roof, approximately 75 squares, which included insulation and flashing. |

The Prime Contractor hired one new estimator and one new project manager as full-time employees in order to be properly staffed to coordinate and manage this roof repair contract. These two new positions were new jobs that had to be created within the organization. The staff prior to the contract award was not large enough to handle the extra work required to complete this project, which created the need for the additional employees. Assisting the new project manager and estimator, various other employees were also involved in the management of this contract, which allowed them to retain their jobs. These other employees included, but are not limited to, accountants, clerical positions, contract administrator, quality control manager, safety officer, and field project manager. Not only was the prime contractor able to retain and create jobs, this stimulus funded project affected the Subcontractor, too. A roofing crew was assigned to this project that may have had to be laid off were it not for the award of this contract. Laborers, roofers, a superintendent and foreman worked on this job on behalf of the subcontractor, as well as an estimator and project manager. |
